The SAGF Hub Leaders Training | Kempton Park 17-18 March 2018

23 March 2018.  The SAGF HUB Project, funded by Lotto is an initiative with a focus on grassroots development to grow gymnastics within Black African sector. It is aiming to support the evolving current schools programme from introduction to pathway to excellence with appropriate equipment, facilities and expertise in gymnastics centres called hubs; providing programs that are accessible and mobile to schools in disadvantaged communities of urban and rural areas of South Africa.

Two people from the 11 hubs were identified to attend the training to understand SAGF strategic development plan and to enable them to run a successful gymnastics program, to help the community to overcome socio-economic challenges in the disadvantaged areas by:

  • Providing a service for schools with physcal education and fundamental movement classes in their area
  • Implementation of elementary gymnastics program with recreational, educational and competitive program in the centre
  • Talent identification and nurturing of gymnasts from elementary to advanced level
  • Capacity building with mentoring of young leaders, teachers, coaches and judges
