30 October 2017. The Rope Skipping development and training camp, took place on the 28th October 2017. The camp was held at the Banareng Primary School in Atteridgeville (Tshwane) and 22 Primary schools in the area were reached with about over 12 schools attended the Jump Rope Camp.

With Keo Mokolopo (RS Program Manager) being the instructor at the camp, with her Team they coached all the teachers and pupils. This initiative was a success through working close with the Gauteng Education department, District Manager Itireleng Segomotso.

As Rope Skipping is ideally suited for all and can be done anywhere, then 20 teachers and approximately 100 pupils were at the camp jumping rope. They were taught many beginners rope skipping skills such as Criss Cross and other rope skipping elements like Traveller and Double Dutch. This fun camp was received very enthusiastically by both teachers and pupils, it has motivated and inspired them to continue with Rope Skipping.

SA Gymnastics is on the go to develop and grow Rope Skipping more in the Gauteng province, and the schools are registering with SAGF and soon in December many schools will be competing at the National Schools Sports Championships.
