The South African Rope Skipping Team that competed at the 2017 World Jump Rope Championships consisted of 4 gymnasts, namely Sonopo Tshilwane, Mbali Nyundu, Amanda Msongelwa and Keolebogile Mokolopo.

Near 800 competitors across 30 plus countries attended this prestigious competition and the competition was of a very high standard.

Against all the odds, Keolebogile (Keo) put on a very good performance and bagged a Silver and Bronze medal for her efforts.

Keo placed 3rd for her Single Rope Freestyle and came 2nd in the individual 3 minutes speed. This is the second competition in a row that our jumpers have brought home medals after competing at a World Championship.  Last year, Sonopo won a Bronze medal for Triple Unders at the 2016 FISAC/IRSF World Rope Skipping Championships held in Sweden.

Keo was also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for hosting the World Jump Rope Federation (WJRF) competition at the 2017 Arnold Classic, which was a great success here in South Africa.

Sonopo Tshilwane placed 5th for 30 seconds speed, Amanda Msongelwa achieved 6th place & Mbali Nyundu 7th place.

The South African Gymnastics Federation congratulates the Team especially Keo, for their outstanding performances at the 2017 World Jump Rope Championships. The country is proud, well done!
