11 October 2019. Hot on the heels of the fantastic performances of our Women’s Artistic gymnasts at the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, comes great news from our Rope Skipping Discipline.

The awesome foursome men’s team of the South African Gymnastic Federation’s Rope Skippers have continued their winning streak following their success at the World Championships by winning 8 medals and 3 trophies at the China Open today.

Tshilwane Sonopo (Free State) Mkululi Gosa, Malusi Tumtumana & Buyilise Hubela (Western Cape) have shown that not only are they talented individuals but they are even better as a team. Mkhululi Gosa won gold for triple unders, Tshilwane Sonopo won the silver trophy for 4800 Jump for the Heart section (he jumped 4800 jumps in the second quickest time!).

The team of 3 men hailing from the Western Cape won the bronze medal for the Double Dutch 3 competition and the team of four men won the bronze medal and trophy for the overall team award. Lastly the team proved their true South African gees by winning the trophy for the Country with the most Team Spirit. The team is coached by Keo Mokolopo (Mpumalanga) who is also the SAGF Rope Skipping Programme Manager and International Jump Rope Board Member.

SAGF Acting President, Mr Donovan Jurgens, states: “I had the privilege of watching these boys in action at the recent SA Gym Games in Cape Town. I had a feeling I was witnessing greatness. It seems I was not wrong. These boys have honed their skills through sheer hard work, discipline and commitment. They are living proof that anyone can rise above their circumstances. They have been ambassadors for their communities, the SA Gymnastics Federation and South Africa as a whole. My message to all South Africans is simple. Gymnastics is for everybody, come and join our movement, get active and start reaching your potential!”
