RSA Artistic Gymnasts wins Medals | Africa Safari International 2018

23 July 2018. The Africa Safari International 2018  international artistic gymnastics competition was held at the Centurion Gymnastics Club, the competition was held over two days from the 20th– 21st July 2018.

Countries such as Japan, Wales, Bangladesh, gymnast from Great Britain including RSA all competing. RSA had a total of 11 gymnasts for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and 6 for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics.

RSA1 Team won 3rd place | Africa Safari 2018

The RSA1 WAG Team won Bronze medal, the Team included Zelme Daries, Nkazimlo Matyolo, Angela Maguire, Caitlin Rooskrantz and Lisa Conraide. The Team had a total score of 144.750, a score that secured the girls a 3rd place. The RSA2 WAG Team came 4th place, gymnasts included Caitlyn Kelly, Tamsyn Bessit, Garcelle Napier, Jade Pailman and Inneke Josling; the girls scored total score of 135.850. The Men’s Artistic Team came 2nd place with total score of 210.050.

 

 

Caitlin | 3rd place on Bars

In the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics individual competition, Caitlin Rooskrantz won a Bronze medal on Uneven Bars. Total score of 12.325 was enough to win her 3rd place, on Bars apparatus final .

Angela Maguire won Bronze on Vault and Floor, this double-medallist gymnast scored 12.550 on Vault apparatus finals and 12.325 on Floor finals.

The other RSA WAG gymnasts such as Lisa Conradie, Caitlyn Kelly also performed incredible in a way that they made some apparatus finals with Zelme Daries ranking 4th on Floor final.

In the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) competition, a total of 12 gymnasts participated. South Africa’s Ruan Lange won Bronze Medal on Rings and Horizontal Bar apparatus finals, scoring 11.600 and 10.250 respectively. Ruan also received the highest All-Around score, his total score of 69.950 made him rank 3rd place.

Luke James won 3rd place on Floor apparatus finals, total score of 12.600 secured him a Bronze medal.

Riccardo Colandrea made it to the Pommel Horse and Horizontal Bar apparatus finals, Andrew Flynn to Floor and Rings apparatus finals. Siphesihle Biyase and Rorisang Pooe also performed to their best ranking 11th and 12th respectively for the All-Around.
