Both LIMPOPO and MPUMULANGA have been identified by GFA and Schools as growth areas – they have committed and motivated people within their structures and both provinces have shown signs of significant improvement in these 2 areas over the last 2 years.
The Gymnastics Day is an opportunity for the gymnastics fraternity (Clubs, schools, community organisations) in LIM to get together to attend a choreography and coaching workshop and then to join together to perform in a mass display item that they will be taught by the 2 facilitators – Heather Malek and Shalene Raath. The purpose of the Day is to highlight the value of team display gymnastics for both skill development and recreational health and fitness.
LIM in particular, has very good younger competitive gymnasts that are lost to gymnastics once they start high school, due to the other sporting options that are available, that require less training time. The Gymnastics Day will highlight that gymnastics can remain an option for them – just in a different form.
