Bianca Zoonekynd and Offering Tlaka, the stand out performers of the South African Gymnastics Team, did South Africa proud at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.  This prestigious event, took place from the 20th – 30th July 2017, saw over 300 gymnasts compete for the ultimate titles in Aerobic, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics disciplines.

Bianca, who recently won a Tumbling Bronze medal at this year’s Trampoline World Cup event in Baku, finished 2nd in the Women’s Double-Mini Trampoline (DMT) Qualification round, securing her a place in the Finals. However, crucial mistake in the finals denied Bianca a podium finish, ending up in 5th place. This feisty gymnast from Port Elizabeth also qualified for the finals in the Women’s Tumbling event, finishing 7th place overall.

Offering Tlaka competed consistently and earned a spot in the Men’s DMT finals in 7th place. After a tough round of finals in a field of highly respected gymnasts, Offering finished in 8th place. Other gymnasts representing South Africa at this event were Aerobic Gymnasts Wilson Mafona, Happy Ledwaba and Dominique Mann as well as Rhythmic Gymnast Grace Legote.   Despite solid performances from these gymnasts, they were unable to proceed to the finals of their respective events.
