Robert Liefeldt

08 August 2018.

Dear All.

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you all of the passing of Robert Liefeldt on Tuesday, 07th August 2018.

Robert dedicated most of his life to gymnastics. He first qualified as an International Brevet Judge in 1993 and maintained his brevet status for six Olympic cycles, a total of twenty four years! His dedication, keen eye and unwavering fairness when judging, saw Robert being invited by the FIG to judge twice at the Olympic Games, something most Brevet judges only dream of.

It is impossible to quantify the effect Robert had on Men’s Artistic Gymnastics in South Africa. The many hours he spent sharing his vast knowledge of the sport with coaches and judges alike will never be forgotten. Robert made many sacrifices for South African Gymnastics and the artistic community will forever be stronger and wiser for having had his input over the years.

Robert, you will be missed by your SAGF family, but know that the legacy you leave behind is a very powerful one.  Rest In Peace.

Robert Liefeldt award this year 2018 handed over by Tseko Mogotsi (SAGF CEO) and Elizabeth Smith (SAGF President)
